Nhà Thờ Củ Ngoài Sông Sài GònAbout 1800s, at Nhi Binh village (belong to South Diocese under management of Lambert de la Motte bishop) there’re missionary priests who came to preach and baptize, they had an intention building a house to worship and pray as well as having a place for the priests preaching and celebrating mass. Finally, a chapel which located in hamlet three near the riverside was built. In 1866, Lefèbre bishop assigned Azémar priest to manage Tan Quy. In 1880, Azémar priest constructed a big tile-roofed house near high road (the current church position) in order that parishioners could attend mass. Here’s little parishioners, most of them were local inhabitant lived scattered surrounding the church. Their life were so difficult, they lived mainly on farming and animal husbandry. Until 1882, Tan Quy church was upgraded into Tan Quy parish by the first priest Pière – Colson.

     At the end of the nineteenth century, the situation of the Catholic Church continued to growing, thus South Diocese was separated to West South - East South - North South. At this time, Tan Quy belonged to West South supervised by Jean Dépierre De (MEP) bishop. In 1922, Priest Peter Le Quang Tu began to build the new church.    

     Nhà Thờ Mới năm 1923In 1946, the church was burnt and destroyed by the volatility of the time. Until 1951, Priest Paul Le Van Moi decided to reconstruct the church more spacious and cleaner so that the parishioners had a place to attend mass and pray.

     In 1953, Priest Peter Tran Van Thi had a second reconstruction because the roofs of the church were old and torn off. After completed the restoration, He built the gate to make the church more attractive. At this time, Tan Quy parish belongs to Diocesan Saigon managed by Archbishop Paul Nguyen Van Binh and Bishop Nicolas Huynh Van Nghi.

      From 03-Nov-1993 to 03-Mar-1995, Priest Francis Xavier Bui Van Minh did the third reconstruction. On 24-Aug-1995, Auxiliary Bishop Alosio Pham Van Nam was presided the Thanksgiving mass to inaugurate the new church. He blessed Tan Quy “be close-knit, beloved to become the gathering place of those who believe in God, listen the word of God, unify in the Eucharist and work together to build a happy life, prosper for the family and society”
        Looking back the history of parish had gone through, It can be divided into three periods:

                     Initial formation stage: 1800 – 1920

                     Construction the new church stage: 1920 – 1993

                     Reconstruction the church stage: 1993 to present

      Nowadays, Tan Quy Parish becomes a major parish in Hoc Mon County with 800 Catholic Family and about 4000 parishioners. Tan Quy church located in 1/1 Bui Cong Trung, hamlet Two, Nhi Binh commune, in the environs of the City. Currently, Tan Quy also belongs to SaiGon Diocese under management of John the Baptist Pham Minh Man.

     Nhà Thờ Hiện TạiDuring five years, from 2005, thanks to the mercy of God, the guidance of Priest Gabriel Trinh Cong Chanh, Tan Quy parish has changed markedly, The church is more spacious and more ancient, facilities of the parish were constructed and revised to cater for the needs of living and religious education. The improvement of organizational structure, life of faith, strong ethics of parishioner cause of becoming the parish become a missionary community, faith community charity community for everyone to follow.

     Everyday, There’s mass at 05h00 morning, 18h00 afternoon and say grace at statues around church precinct. Namely:

      Monday morning: say grace at Priest Francis Xavier’s grave and pray for souls.

      Tuesday: at St. Martin statue

      Wednesday: at St. Joseph statue

      Thursday: at St. Martyrs

      Friday: at Gietsemani Graden

      Saturday: at St. Maria cave

      Sunday afternoon, say grace at Statue of Cross.

      Say grace at St. Maria statue everyday.

      There’s palanquin before mass on Maria’s solemnities, Joseph’s solemnity, Sacred Heart’s solemnity

      After mass time every Saturday, Acolyte department will say grace alternating between the monuments.
